Greenville Convention Center

Physical Description: Renovation of existing 40,000 square feet and expansion of a new 12,000 square feetĀ

J. Morgan Design Associates went through an extensive interview process along with our team, T.A. Loving Construction and Oakley/Collier Architects. Our team evaluated the large scope of work and met numerous times in order to completely review the objectives given for the expansion of the Greenville Convention Center. We all agreed it was rare to work with a more cohesive group. Each brought years of experience and a comfort level for making critical and productive decisions in the best interest of the project.

Having worked previously with the owners and management of the Hilton, we understood their vision and knew the critical timing of each phase. It was imperative to create spaces that could accommodate larger groups to the area. In brief, this project involved a 12,000 sq. ft. addition and remodel of the existing 40,000 sq. ft. There are 7 total Breakout areas, 5 of which are larger than 5,000 sq. ft., Conference Rooms, renovations of Main Entrance, Lobby, adjoining Corridors, Exhibit Hall and all Restrooms. A modern and more innovative space is reflected throughout. Our attention went to upgrades in ceiling designs, lighting, interior doors and flooring. We incorporated sleek patterns with large format highly polished porcelain tiles as a main focus. As one can imagine, value engineering existed with each decision. We held true to the budgets given.

Our design services involved new construction as well as interior upgrades to coordinate with existing areas not modified. This coordination is complex. Function becomes our utmost concern. Our specifications had to be consistent with high performance at every level and still maintain the image set forth by Hilton standards.

This project is unique in terms of working under the mandated guidelines of the City of Greenville, as well as the owners and property managers of the Hilton. The common objective of all has been to create a facility that reinforces and reflects the vitality and exciting growth of Greenville. It has been a pleasure to work with both.
