Cayman BRAC Beach Resort

Physical description: Complete remodel of resort swimming pool and surrounding grounds with the addition of a new two-story, 3,850 sq. ft. outdoor bar and upper lounge.

After successfully renovating an all-inclusive, 40-room dive resort on the island of Little Cayman back in 2008, the owners asked J. Morgan Design to join their team as they embarked on a new venture on the island of Cayman Brac. After purchasing another 40-room dive resort, this project included a complete remodel of the resort pool and surrounding grounds, as well as, the addition of a new two-story outdoor bar and upper lounge. Our team worked directly with the executive board to develop the material selections, all furniture needs for the new exterior areas, and new custom guest room bedding and accessories.

Due to our previous work with the owners and executive board, our team understood their vision and knew the harsh nature of the Cayman Island environment. As with most projects, timing of each phase is critical, and it was imperative we allotted enough time for shipping products and materials to the island. In brief, this project involved a new 4,540 sq. ft. organically shaped swimming pool, a new 3,850 sq. ft. two-story bar, and approximately 10,750 sq. ft. of pool deck to space plan.
As the designer, we initiated the project with the material selections for the pool and spa water line tile, as well as the paver design and selections for the adjoining pool deck and walkways. As we transitioned into the bar, we carefully chose products and finishes that not only were aesthetically pleasing, but preformed to the highest wear standards due to the unbelievably severe weather this resort faces day to day. Our attention went to custom, weather appropriate ceiling fans, coastal finish lighting, outdoor seating and tables, and a custom 2” thick, 30’-0” U-shaped, solid glass countertop.

J. Morgan Design is proud to have worked with such an experienced, creative team to complete this highly time sensitive project, in such an extraordinary environment.
